A fertility engine built on science
At the core of the module is an analysis engine that combines elements from internationally recognized fertility awareness methods: Sensiplan, the Marquette Method, ACOG and NICE guidelines, the Döring rule, and the Knaus-Ogino method. It’s not a simple calendar. It’s a system that analyzes your data with a 9-step algorithm and returns a fertile window estimate based on what it actually observes.
Ribbon Care is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace your doctor’s advice. It’s a support to help you know yourself better and have useful information to share with your gynecologist.
What you can track every day
You don’t have to fill in everything. The engine works with whatever combination of data you provide, adapting the precision of its estimate:
- Menstrual flow and intensity
- Cervical mucus: dry, creamy, sticky, watery, stretchy
- Basal body temperature (BBT): the chart builds itself after 5 measurements
- Ovulation test (LH): negative, high, positive
- Progesterone test (PdG): to confirm ovulation with certainty
- Spotting and symptoms: cramps, mid-cycle pain
- Sexual activity: with or without protection
- Pregnancy test (hCG)
- Mood and personal notes
The more data you log, the more precise the estimate becomes. But even with few signals, Ribbon Care already gives you a useful fertile window.
It always tells you “why”
This is the biggest difference from any other app. Ribbon Care doesn’t just show you a fertile window. It explains how it got there: which signals it observed, which methods it applied, what’s missing to improve precision.
The “Cycle Insights” section is your transparency dashboard. If the data isn’t sufficient or signals contradict each other, the app doesn’t make up a date. It tells you, and suggests what to do for a better estimate in the next cycle.
Precision grows with you
Ribbon Care doesn’t pretend to know everything from day one. The confidence level evolves as you accumulate cycles:
- Learning: first cycle, the app is starting to know you
- Building: 1-2 complete cycles
- Emerging: 3-5 cycles, the baseline starts to stabilize
- Confident: 6 or more cycles
- Max Precision: 6+ cycles with daily LH and BBT tracking
When data is insufficient, the app suspends its estimates and tells you clearly. Not all fertility apps make this choice. Ribbon Care does.
Signals your gynecologist will want to see
The engine automatically detects three clinically relevant patterns and flags them informatively:
- Short luteal phase (under 11 days): associated with implantation difficulties
- Suspected anovulation: long cycles without confirmed ovulation
- LH peak without thermal shift: a possible signal worth investigating
When a pattern repeats across multiple cycles, Ribbon Care suggests discussing it with your gynecologist. No diagnosis, no alarmism: just useful information for an informed conversation with your doctor.
